STYLE ESSENTIALS: THE WRAP DRESS

In my opinion, there are essential style items every style conscious lady should have in her wardrobe. That's what this post is about. 


Initially, I thought I had to list (with pictures) all the style essentials in one single post but my mind naturally shied away from the challenge because it would feel like work to me . . . I blog for fun. 🤓

 

So what changed? Well, I thought to myself, why not have fun while I’m at it and do it one essential style item per post? In other words, you’ll keep seeing the post “STYLE ESSENTIALS :  . . . ”  ( both alternatively and consecutively) on this blog until I am through with the items on my list 🙂 . I hope you will enjoy the posts as much as I know I will enjoy making them.


In no particular order, I decided to start with the wrap dress.




A wrap dress is a dress that is wrapped around the body, one side across the other usually forming a v-shaped neckline. The wrap dress is fastened to the body either by making knots or bows from the ties attached to the dress at the waist, with the knot or bow resting at the side or back of the dress, or fastened by button(s), etc. Wrap dresses are usually made with soft fabrics and they come in long sleeves, three quarter sleeves, sleeveless or spaghetti straps. Most often than not, they end either just above the knees, on the knees or just below the knees.




The wrap dress has been known to be on the fashion scene for as early as the 1930s.  However, one cannot mention the wrap dress these days without the name Diane von Fürstenberg coming to mind.


Why is this dress on my list of wardrobe essentials? It is a dress that flatters every female form regardless of the shape of your body. It just makes you look better somehow, enhancing your femininity. An essential wardrobe item I have to say, for the style conscious feminine girl.


My wrap dress is fastened at the side with a metallic clip attached to the dress and it’s neck line, though v-shaped does not appear so. That is because I am wearing a mini body hugging tube camisole under my wrap dress, to cover my cleavage. Care to share your thoughts on the wrap dress in the comment section?

    Such a timeless fashion icon you are.... going way back to the 1930s.
    The "wrap dress" looks so good on you. Waiting to see the rest of your Wardrobe Essentials so I know in what order I take my pick. But I doubt if any other one will beat this.

The aim of this time out was just to take a short and simple break from my routine work life. However, I was pleasantly caught off guard by the serenity of this location.  My soul gratefully soaked up the ambience of this place.  I spent more time soaking it all in than I did taking pictures and that’s unusual for me. 🤓 Though we had an exciting time on the ferris wheel, my friends and I left this location feeling serene and rejuvenated.  Have you ever left a place feeling that way? ARMS AKIMBO

I took a look at the shots taken while checking the angles of my camera in preparation for the main shoot of this post and it finally dawned on me that the left arm akimbo pose was not my favourite pose but my comfy pose. It was my pose in literally all the shots taken. At the time the shots were being taken, I never thought the images would come on the blog. But after going through the images, I got curious as to the significance of the pose in terms of body language. I went googling and decided to share with you. A PODS LUNCH

  On this impromptu  outing , I ended up at  Ile-Iyan by PODs  restaurant for lunch.  Ile-Iyan by PODs is what I would call a destination place with a pleasant African themed decor and ambience.  From the menu, I had pounded yam and egusi soup accompanied with escargot and chevon. Rather, the pounded yam, egusi soup and escargot accompanied the chevon. 🤓 My taste buds enjoyed the rich taste of the egusi soup. The escargot (snail) was just there, almost bland in taste. As for the pounded yam . . . let's just say I prefer the thicker or should I say stronger consistency of pounded yam to the one I ate there. 🤓 Now, the chevon on the other hand (yes, I have to address it properly because why would I just say goat meat for something so delicious? 🤓) was  yummilicious!  It was so tasty, tender, big, fleshy and really . . .  yummilicious!  😋  It was that good, I kid you not.  Like I mentioned earlier, this outing was impromptu, s...
